Earlier in the year, UN chief Antonio Guterres spoke in Qatar regarding gender equality. His statement emphasized how long it might take to achieve gender equality if current trends continue. Girls Across Borders believes waiting 300 years to achieve gender equality is unacceptable, and immediate action is required to accelerate progress toward gender equality.

"To achieve gender equality, Guterres called for “collective” and “urgent” action, from increasing education, income and employment for women and girls, especially in developing nations in the Global South, to promoting the participation of women and girls in science and technology." – CNN

So, Girls Across Borders has launched a petition to combat the issue of gender inequality. Because, gender equality is crucial for a brighter future, as it unlocks the potential of half the world's population, driving economic growth, innovation, and stronger communities.

Signing this petition signifies a commitment to integrate gender equality into your personal and professional life. It urges the United Nations, governments, the private sector, and the public to prioritize and act on gender equality, with "Girls Across Borders" leading the way towards a more equitable world.

We aim to gather 500 signatures, enabling us to contact the UN. This outreach will highlight the strong commitment that people have made and the 'collective' effort that the UN has been seeking. We want to emphasize the urgent need for change and an end to gender inequality.
